Meet the FCM coaches

At FC Marylebone, our coaches are the heart of everything we do. Their dedication, energy, and love for the game ensure that every boy and girl receives high-quality training in a supportive and fun environment. From developing technical skills to building confidence and teamwork, our coaches inspire young players to enjoy football to the fullest.

We caught up with some of them to learn more about their journeys, inspirations, and what makes coaching at FC Marylebone so special.

Coach Tiago - With the club since day one, Tiago has led our U14 girls for over two years and continues to guide the current U9s, having coached them since they were U7s.

Coach Maki - A member of the coaching team for two years and captain of our men’s senior team, Maki currently manages the U11s, having started with the U8s.

Coach Simon - Joining in 2023, Simon began with the U8s (now U9 boys) and also coaches the U10 team.

Coach Owen -  Coaching at the club for two years, Owen has worked with both the U9 girls and U10 boys, and now focuses on developing our U7 boys.

Coach Joao -  With the club for over a year now, Joao began coaching the U7s in their first competitive season and now leads the U16 girls team.

Coach Anton -  Having managed the U11 team for the past three years, Anton is dedicated to helping the players develop skills and confidence.

What inspired you to become a coach?

Coach Tiago: I’ve loved football since childhood. My dad used to take me to FC Porto’s old stadium, and now I enjoy helping children discover that same passion.”

Coach Maki: “Supporting Manchester United sparked my love for football, and combining that with working alongside children felt like a natural step.”

Coach Simon: “Most of my family are Arsenal fans, so football was always part of my life. Watching Arsenal in the 1980s made me feel represented, and today, coaching is my way of passing that same love for the game on, helping kids reach their full potential.”

Coach Owen: “Football has been part of my life thanks to my grandad, who introduced me to Chelsea. Seeing young players develop both on and off the pitch is incredibly rewarding.”

Coach Joao: “My earliest football memory is my dad taking me to trials for the Avai Youth Academy. My coaches taught me teamwork, discipline, and confidence, and now I want to pass that same positive influence on to others.”

Coach Anton: “Football has always been part of my life. My dad played for Dynamo Kyiv, where I also spent eight years. My goal now is to keep progressing as a coach.”

What’s your favourite part of coaching at FC Marylebone?

Coach Tiago: “The support and trust from my colleagues have helped me grow as a coach. I’ve truly enjoyed being part of this club.”

Coach Maki: “Creating an environment where players feel supported, challenged, and confident is what I value most.”

Coach Simon: “Seeing the joy football brings to children and their growth throughout the season is what makes coaching so rewarding.”

Coach Owen: “The club’s philosophy on player development and the supportive coaching community make FC Marylebone special.”

Coach Joao: “Being part of a grassroots club is incredibly fulfilling. Watching the team’s hard work pay off with a well-deserved win is a great feeling.”

Coach Anton: “Helping players grow not only as footballers but also as individuals is what I enjoy most.”

At FC Marylebone, our coaches do more than develop footballers. They build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. Their passion and dedication inspire every player who steps onto the pitch, creating an environment where young athletes can thrive, make friends, and fall in love with the game. We’re proud of the incredible coaching team that makes FC Marylebone such a special place to play, learn, and grow.
